.

Dear all AFSN members, colleagues and friends,

It is my great honor to be the President of the Asian Forensic Sciences Network (AFSN). Thank you for your support and trust in both my institute and me.

AFSN has developed a lot since its foundation in 2008. There are already 47 member institutes from 15 countries as of 8th Sep 2017. We also have 6 workgroups (DNA, Trace Evidence, Crime Scene Investigation, Illicit Drugs, Toxicology, and Digital Forensic) and a Quality Assurance & Standards Committee. During these years, AFSN has been providing an amazing platform for technical communication, training, quality enhancing and strategy developing for improving forensic science in Asia. We show great appreciation to all members, former presidents, board members and Chairs/Vice-Chairs/Secretaries of workgroups who have devoted a lot to Asian forensic work. It is them who build the strong basis for AFSN and now a wonderful starting point for us to do more.

We will continue to work together, hand in hand, with all member institutes to develop strategies, to collaborate, and to play more active role in achieving AFSN goals. We will always need strong support and cooperation from all member institutes. And we will try our best to create more opportunities and different ways to enhance collaboration among different forensic institutes in countries within or outside Asia.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Health Sciences Authority, Singapore. The past 9th AFSN Annual Meeting and Symposium was so well organized and I believe all participants have spent wonderful days in Singapore. We highly appreciate what Singapore has done for Asian forensic work, especially in expanding influence of AFSN as the International Liaison Officer. Here I am also happy to announce that the 10th AFSN Annual Meeting and Symposium in 2018 will take place in Beijing, hosted by the Institute of Forensic Science (IFS), Ministry of Public Security, China. As my home institute, IFS will try its best to make the 10th meeting a successful forum for forensic scientists not only from Asia but also the whole world, and make it an unforgettable memory for all participants in Beijing. As our great philosopher Confucius said, it is delightful to have friends from afar. I would like express warm welcome to all members, and look forward to seeing all of you in Beijing 2018!

Thank you & Best Wishes
